Here is the thing:

This past year I have been through hell and back; yet I have risen to the top of my game and there is absolutely no fucking way I am looking back. 

Heart break, depression, stress, life changes and eating disorders. I have experienced it all and yet, I refuse to let that define me or kick me off my game. 

With 16 days left in 2019, I intend to make it the best ever, leaving the negative in the past and I challenge you to do the same. 

Know everyday will not be filled with rainbows and butterflies but if you are dealing with challenges, know that it is life and it goes on. Accept with gratitude and allow yourself to see beyond the surface of what is occurring in your life.

One thing I am thankful for is the human body and its ability to preserver under the most traumatizing and stressful circumstances. It is one thing I am very grateful for and why I have chosen to not only share my journey with you but to shift my mind set, focus on self love, dedicate myself to my fitness goals and get right with my nutrition.

So now that you are feeling all inspired, I wanted to share with you today’s Leg Day workout, a new Kodiak Muffin recipe and my Meal Plan for the week! Hopefully this will inspire you to put your best foot forward now and not wait until the “new year new me” BS.

First up, fuel for your workout! 

Peppermint Dark Chocolate Kodiak Muffins: 166 calories, 25gC | 4gF |10gP

What you need:

212g Dark Chocolate Kodiak Cake Pancake or Muffin Mix

3 pieces of mini peppermint candy cane

1/4 cup All Natural Apple Sauce

1 Cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Milk

1/4 Cup Unsweetened Apple Sauce

1 Large Egg

12g Coconut Sugar

1 tsp Peppermint Extract

Directions: 

  1. Preheat oven 375 and grease a 6 count muffin tin
  2. Mix all ingredients until batter consistency
  3. Scope 1/4 of mix in each muffin tin
  4. Place 3 mini candy canes in a plastic bag and break into pieces
  5. Top each tin with candy pieces
  6. Bake 18 mins, check with toothpick, if not clean bake another 5 mins.
       *baking times may vary*

Breakfast: My kodiak Sandwich which I have featured in previous blogs

Snack: Peppermint Chocolate Muffins

Lunch: Green Beans, Broccoli and Ground Turkey

Snack: Quest Nutrition Bar

After the Gym I like to have my Pumpkin Protein Shake 

Dinner: Chicken or Tilapia (not prepared), Green Beans and either Rice or Sweet Potatoes I will prep in the Air Fryer

Now that you are fueled with some festive Holiday treats and a sample meal prep, it is time to put in the work.

Today’s workout was fire.

Always start with a warm up, today we were focusing on legs so we needed to activate our glutes, hammies and quads before tackling below.

5 min stair warm up

4×10-12: superset

Deadlift with barbell

Box squat with barbell

Goblet Squat

Split squat L/R

Rest 2 min, no rest between movements

4×10

Hip thrusts | snatch grip RDL

Seated Leg press (3 ways)

Leg kick back

Leg extension

3×10

Hyperextension

Sissy squat

Alt Assisted pistol

30 minute stairs 

Stretch

Sunday’s are for…. (Fill in the blank)

You better have said meal prepping!

It is true! While Sunday’s are days of lots of fun things to do it is also the cap of our weekend. Monday comes quick… So be prepared.

I have been meal prepping a long time and I honestly feel it is the only way I stay on track. If I do not prep myself for the week it is just setting myself up for failure and the ease of giving into temptations…

A lot of my clients and followers express that they think of meal prepping but don’t do it because they are lost… well here are some tips on how to start becoming a MEAL PREP PRO.

  1. Set Goals and talk with your coach: If you have  a coach, loop in with them. What are your desires? Weightless, Build muscle? Once you know what your goal is you can organize your meal plans to help you achieve that!
  2. Plan a head: Look at your week from either Monday to Friday or Monday to Sunday. It is your decision how many days you prep for. I start on Monday and prep until Friday and then restructure for the weekends.
    1. Figure out what events are happening, what your schedule is like and how much time you can dedicate to “cooking” what ever you can’t do, prep today (Sunday).
  3. Make your meal plan… See below my plan for this week: I am following a paleo version of the 21 DF: If you want more information on what I am eating and why we can always chat offline!

4. Make a grocery list AND STICK TO IT. (side note: don’t go shopping hungry… it is how bad things end up in your cart… trust me… i know). See my list below: i go through my cabinet and see what I have, anything I don’t have goes on the list…. nothing else in the cart… just what is on the list.


5. Bang out the Prep Work! Now you have all your foods home, what do you prep versus what can you make that day all depends on your schedule… See I work 6a – 4p and workout at 5p so I prep all my meals except dinner. The dinners I planned for this week all take under 30mins to prep so I know I will have time to do that without having to bulk prep dinner. So I structure my lunches into containers and use my 21DF portion containers to help measure my allotment per meal. If you do not have these containers measuring cups will do but stick to your allotted macros.


6. STICK TO THE PLAN: so now you are prepped for success but it is Tuesday and maybe you are bored of your salad and water for lunch. Don’t sabotage your hard work from Sunday on a 20 min burrito bloat. Trust me, compared to your goals and the success you will feel at the end of the week… it is not worth it.

Meal prepping is an art and in my opinion takes time to form into a routine but sticking with it every Sunday will help it become a part of your normal schedule. There are so many sites that can help give you awesome meal prep ideas, our blog included. You just have to carve out a little bit of time, throw on your creative thinking cap and get to planning.

It is all worth it in the end!

Where have you been coach??

I know… everyone has been asking where there beloved Coach has been. This blog has gotten some serious neglect the past two months and my deepest apologies… but I am back… for now.

Travel season has officially ended for work and if you do not follow me on IG, Twitter or FB you probably have no idea about the amazing progress we have been making as a Team. NOT OK.

So follow us and I promise to keep this updated weekly until the end of the year.

So where have I been… well, for starters, I was in Disneyland–again, it was for work. I promise. Then back. Then in Auburn with the family, then in Virginia a week… that was so beautiful. They actually have fall!

Then I pulled my back at CrossFit, that was fun… so things have been cray. BUT I AM BACK!

That is all that matters… and with that I will fill you in on another little update…

Define Yourself

Wow! Fitfam, it has been a week since we have dropped a line and I am already home from PA!

What an amazing trip! For all you Football Fans, I had the pleasure of being on the #2 field in the USA! Penn State bay-bee! We had to use our charm to get in but man, what an experience all around! I mean check out how GORGEOUS this field is!

Fall is almost here…

Can you believe it? Probably not as it is 100 degrees out side but only 37 days until fall, that’s pumpkin🎃everything, Hunters rain boots ☔️lulu pants and hoodies, football🏈 and if yes all the treats that come with the holidays! 
Kids are back to school and everyone is excited about cozy fall🍂🍁🌰🍁

I know it’s exciting but I have already seen priorities slipping but I’m here to remind you summer will be back!

Wow this weekend Flew by…

What an amazing weekend. It was filled with so many highs and then ended with some crappy lows but it is okay, you push through and you move forward.

To give you a recap:

FRIDAY: I had the day off. YES. I know.

–It honestly was amazing. I had appointments in SF but I got to workout on my own time and do me for a while which never happens. Sometimes a girl just needs her nails did, yeah feel me ??😋💅🏼

Friday night was so great! I was reunited with my dance crew in San Jose for Groov3! It was so great to one be able to dance with them again but two meet new friends and get my sweat on! I honestly believe that DANCE is a cure for any emotion you feel. It is how I made it through HS and College!

  
SATURDAY– another day of amazingness with the crew! Got to reunite with the OLD SKOOL crew at AP5 and dance our little Hearts out in Richmond, CA!

   
    
    
 Then… 11pm hit… when all you do is want to get home because you are exhausted from burning nearly 3,000 calories and your are hungry but your SUV decides it wants to be a pain and die. Yes straight up die, no battery no steering no nothing. DEAD AND GONE.

So here comes Jim and AAA to the rescue…. It is 3am… I am finally in bed… NOT COOL. So you can imagine that my Sunday was full of stress and for dinner I had a 1/2 a pint of Artic Zero Ice Cream and A box of Teddy Ghrams… Yep I ate my feelings. NOT COOL EITHER. But I am owning up to it.

I always say, what you eat in private you wear in public… that goes for me too. SO DON’T HIDE IT. Just admit to your faults and move on, life ain’t easy and we all have a struggle. IT IS REAL I TELL YOU!

So today was a lot better– back on track with my eating and I got an amazing burn in doing “livin in the 8’s”  and “21 Day Fix Cardio” this AM. Honestly, these two programs have been my Saviors since they were released! 30min workouts and dialed in nutrition with the Fix and just a fun ass workout with CIZE.
