Holiday’s got you stressed? Feeling like you are being pulled into 500 directions? Traveling got your skin looking drab?
I feel you… but I got you.
In case you are new here, I live in Utah, which is code for DRY and COLD as hell in the winter. So selfcare has become a routine that I never skimp out on.
What is self care though?
First, it is different for everyone. It could be curling up on the couch with a good book, taking a walk outside, doing yoga, playing Animal Crossing on your switch– no routine is the same and one is not better for you over the other.
The idea behind self care is taking care of you, your mental health, well being and again, one size does not fit all.
It is as unique as you are!
I have a few routines for my self care days and I make sure that I do at least one self care routine a day.
- Weekend mornings: I love either playing my switch or reading my kindle. I make a yummy nespresso and I listen to light music, I am really into these YouTube cozy channels right now.
- Nighttime: I like to focus on skin care or nail care. When Covid hit, and the world shut down, I started doing my nails at home. I recently started treating myself to pedicures at the salon again because my back can’t handle having to contour my body into a pretzel to do my toes but I have been doing my nail care for the last 2 years and it is so easy!
- REST DAYS: sounds simple enough but if you know me, or are like me, you know that taking a true rest day comes with lots of guilt t. It has taken quite some time to finally enjoy and look forward to letting my body rest. I now schedule massages every 2 weeks on a rest day. If I am pushing my body in the gym, I need to be allowing it time to recover if I expect it to keep performing when I push it to.
- Mobility days: on days that I deem my “cardio” days, which are just days that I want to be on the Peloton Bike or Tread, I am adding a program called Pliability into my routine which is formally known as ROMWOD. I have been using this on and off for years and only recently started being consistent. I spend about 20-30 minutes foam rolling, using my Hypervolt or Theragun Mini and then doing the pliability daily program. I feel 100x better and my body recovers way faster.
- Meditation and Journaling: I usually do this every day when I wake up, sometimes I miss a day or two because sleep is important but if I can fit it in I feel better. It helps me process whatever it is I may be dealing with at the time. I like to dream dump into my journal if I can remember my dreams and I use either the Calm or the Peloton app for a quick 5 minute meditation.
I would say those are the most consistent routines for self care I have, and I encourage you to try to create some routines that make you feel relaxed, refreshed and revived on your own.
Since self care is the theme this week, how about a Self Care Holiday Guide!
I use all of the below items and I wouldn’t recommend something I don’t love. I am not affiliated with any links nor make commission off of them either, I just love these products and hope that with these suggestions, you can feel refreshed and recharged too!
Holiday Gift Guide: Self Care
Nail Care:
- Nail drill/ care system : Works so well for the price. There are more expensive ones on amazon but this does the job perfectly!
- Cuticle remover: I like this one from Olive and June at Target but Sally Hansen also makes a good one! It is key to not ripping off your cuticles or making yourself bleed to death.
- Nail kit: I like this kit on Amazon because it works well and it has everything you need for a manicure but you can also choose to buy each separately if you want.
- Nail buffer/ remover kit: This has everything you need to get your gel nail polish off, just invest in a good acetone!
- Gel Nail Polish and Dryer: Bought in 2020 and have been using ever since!

Skin Care:
- Clearstem skin care products are the GOAT. First, I love that you take a skin care quiz so that you can see what is best for your skin and I love that they have a section on their website to type in your current skin care line and see if it has chemicals or pore clogging ingredients which lead to early aging and acne! It is amazing. I have been using their products for almost 6 months now and I love love love it. Again– not affiliated, just love them.
- Avatara Face Masks and Pixi Eye Patches: I like to use these and lay in bed while meditating or reading my kindle.
- Ice Roller: I love to do this when I wake up, it helps me feel less puffy in the morning.

This is just a starting point and I am not a professional by any means, these are just some things I love to help lighten the stress load, especially during the holidays. I hope it helps you too! Plus they are great gift ideas for the stressed out beauty in your life ๐
